“When you see the children that I will give you, then you will acknowledge that I am the holy God of Israel. You will honor me and stand in awe of me.” (Isaiah 29:23 GNT) Once I got pregnant I felt this push and pull sensation as if something was pulling me. But, also I felt like I was being pushed into something unknown. It wasn’t until after I had my son that I realized what God had been trying to do. A kid is what forces us to grow up. It was at that point that I knew I had to move differently because I have a son to protect. I have a young King to raise and guide in the Lord’s steps. Our children are the next generation and we have to raise them right this time. Generations are only getting worse but also we now have the power and opportunity to make a change. With all the new advancements, technology, and modern things we can raise our kids to think smarter and make wise decisions. I’m going to show my son that he is loved as a black man. I’m going to teach him that the streets are no good. I want him to know there’s a lot more to life than wasting time. There’s no time to waste, time is the most valuable thing we all possess. Time is the one thing that never changes and it is always consistent.
Dear son, always follow your dreams. May God bless you and continue to bless you. It doesn’t matter who tells you no, I’ll always believe in you. When the world tries to tear you down, mommy will be right there. I may not do things right all the time, but I promise to try my best. The best part is I get to show you our God and all the wonderful things our Lord can do for us. I pray you’re always led by the Holy Spirit. That your actions only leave a mark of positivity. That you one day could encourage and inspire others. I want you to know that the color of your skin or your race does not define you. All you will ever need is already inside of you and your most precious cargo is your mind. With your mind you can conquer the world… All you need is hard work and determination. You can be anything and do anything in your hearts desire. Just make sure you seek the kingdom of God first and put Him first in anything you do. Remember only God and yourself can make you happy. “Seek your happiness in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desire.” (Psalm 37:4 GNT) Do not depend on the world and external sources to bring you happiness because you will always be disappointed. I’m so grateful to be your mommy, you’re my biggest blessing. I love you Adonis Emmanuel Ortiz.
