Are you double minded? Can you not make decisions without them being full of doubts? Do you change your mind a lot? Do you worry a lot? Are your decisions based on fear and not facts? … Well you have come to the right place. 7 “For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:7-8 KJV)
Being double minded means inconsistency. Let me tell you how I struggled with this on a daily basis and how God delivered me from this mindset. I remember always changing my mind on the decisions I had to make. Doubts would appear in every decision I had to make. I would think about two different things in my mind and that would cause me to not want to make any decisions out of fear of making the wrong one.
The smallest things would cause me to doubt myself. For example: when I was praying for the father of my son anything that reminded me of the hurt I had to endure would cause me to question everything. I could be so sure I’m doing the right thing one day. Yet, the next day I could see something so small like a quote and would question if God even wanted me to do that. I couldn’t see what God was doing until I made a firm decision.
Confusion is a major tactic the enemy uses against us. If the enemy can get us to be confused he knows we sometimes will back out of things due to doubts and fears. When we can’t make decisions when they need to be made we might miss out on what God has for us. Also, Jesus will not be pleased with us if we can’t make our minds up. Being double minded is like putting our Father to the test. It’s doubting our Father.
Double mindedness is the opposite of who God is. His word teaches us to trust in Him with all of our mind and heart. We are taught to include Jesus in every decision we make. Therefore, think of how our Father in Heaven and Jesus feel when we are full of doubts. We’re basically telling them “I trust y’all but not enough.” It hurts them to see us like this and I didn’t want to break their hearts anymore.
The way I got delivered from this was by prayer and fasting. Remember that some demons and spirits can only be driven out of you by fasting along with prayer. “And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.” (Mark 9:29 KJV) When you decide to fast the enemy will try his best to stop you. The enemy knows if you get delivered you’ll be one step closer to your God given purpose.
Don’t be afraid and proceed with caution. The enemy can use anybody and anything while you fast to cause you to give up or to get angry. Don’t fall for the schemes of the enemy. Getting delivered from ourselves and those things that are not from our Father is what will make us righteous in His eyes. Get up and defeat your demons, don’t dance with them. Don’t do it just for you but to also free the generations to come.
