The Spirit Of Offense

“A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, And contentions are like the bars of a castle.” (‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬) Offense is feeling resentful or holding a grudge against someone or something because of an insult or a misunderstanding. Offense is the enemy’s tactic for division. Offense is the quickest way to have two people that once loved each other now hate each other. Offense is the quickest way to ruin a friendship and any relationship. Offense is something God had been dealing with me about. I’ve come to the realization that I get easily offended by the smallest things. Offense is something that has been causing problems in my marriage.

Offense can come in the smallest way. For instance, in my marriage offense can come over who does the dishes or cleans. It’s easier to hold a grudge than to let things go. God’s word states: “Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” (‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬) Then the enemy will always have a plan to come against God’s word and here is where offense comes in to cause discord. Division never comes just because of one offense but it consists of many offenses building up overtime into one. I’m learning that it’s not about not dealing with the offense but letting it go after you have dealt with it.
