Controlling What Controls Us

God is definitely doing a new thing in all of us. God is working on the barriers that have been delaying us from becoming everything He sees we can be. In my case God is working on my emotions. He’s teaching me how to be more proactive than reactive. Not everything needs a reaction and most of the time silence is the best answer. I can admit it’s hard because “The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26:41‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Sometimes we get too caught up in the cycles and patterns we have been accustomed to when we were of the world. Then Jesus has to come in and purify us from everything that was never of him to start with. Perhaps these were coping mechanisms we developed. Yet, the choice is always up to us. We have to at some point in our lives start to discipline our flesh. With Christ our spirit will tell our bodies what to do according to the word and not let our flesh dictate.

And the funny thing is God uses the most awkward situations to get our attention. The storms that we think are so big in reality are not as big as we think if we let Jesus guide us through it. Scripture says “No temptation has overtaken you except as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” (‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭10:13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

God didn’t promise us it will not be hard but He also has already provided a solution to everything we will ever face in life. God knows it all He is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. Satan can not tempt us beyond the limit God has set for him. Let’s stop giving Satan power because he doesn’t have any and he still has to answer to God. You want to know how much of a threat you are to Satan? Then check your level of attacks.

Satan doesn’t go after things of no value. Therefore, if you are in a storm just remember you have power and value. The only way we can lose and be defeated is if we let it happen. We serve a big God who created it all and with Him on our side we can never lose. “I am the real vine, and my Father is the gardener. He breaks off every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and he prunes every branch that does bear fruit, so that it will be clean and bear more fruit.” (‭‭John‬ ‭15:1-2‬ ‭GNT‬‬)
