“He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13 NKJV)
Genuinely repenting from our sins is important because it helps us grow spiritually. Sin gets in the way of our spiritual growth and can even bring death to our spiritual life (some sins can lead to actual death too). When we repent, decide to change and turn from our sins, bad ways, bad habits, bad mindsets, etc God through Jesus has mercy on us and forgives us. No sin is too big or too small that They cannot forgive. Also, knowing the right thing to do but still choosing to do evil is also a sin. The Holy Spirit will convict us when we need to repent of something.
“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17 NKJV)
