- It is not philosophy (the pursue of wisdom & knowledge OUTSIDE of God to try to understand life) but CHRIST. There are too many traditions that are blocking believers from truly building an intimate relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. People are walking in tradition instead of being led by the Holy Spirit. The beginning of wisdom and knowledge is the fear of the Lord.
- “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:8-10 NKJV)
- It is not legalism (people attempting to secure salvation through works, rules & laws) but CHRIST. It doesn’t matter what you do, how much money you got, your social status, what laws you follow, what holidays you celebrate, etc. Accepting Jesus Christ and acknowledging Him as our Savior is what opens the door to get to heaven. To be able to get to Jesus is all by God’s GRACE and nothing we do.
- “And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God. Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations— “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.” (Colossians 2:13-23 NKJV)
- It is not carnality (being concerned or focused more on fleshly and worldly things than that of spiritual matters) but CHRIST. We need to be more focused with the things of God instead of the things of this world. All these things are just distractions and we need to be building up our Spirit man and not feeding our flesh with things like fornication, filthy language, idolatry, covetousness, etc.
- “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.” (Colossians 3:1-11 NKJV)
