“But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. But the Lord sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was about to be broken up.” (Jonah 1:3-4 NKJV)
- In the story we see God told Jonah to do something but Jonah did not want to do it. Therefore, Jonah’s disobedience caused him to be in the midst of a storm. Some storms come as redirection when we choose to disobey God and not to harm us. We have such a merciful Father that loves us way too much to leave us in places and situations He never ordained for us to be in. We ought to be thankful for our savior Jesus Christ that paid the price for all of our sins and mistakes before we even committed them. The Lord will corrects His children because His ways are always better than ours. Additionally we do not know the full story or what is ahead and how our obedience to God might bring the freedom and breakthrough someone else needs. So let’s save ourselves the trouble of going through things we do not have to when all God needs is obedience.
