They Will Say ‘Arise & Save Us’ But Where Are Your gods (Jeremiah 2)⁉️

“As the thief is ashamed when he is found out, So is the house of Israel ashamed; They and their kings and their princes, and their priests and their prophets, Saying to a tree, ‘You are my father,’ And to a stone, ‘You gave birth to me.’ For they have turned their back to Me, and not their face. But in the time of their trouble They will say, ‘Arise and save us.’ But where are your gods that you have made for yourselves? Let them arise, If they can save you in the time of your trouble; For according to the number of your cities Are your gods, O Judah. “Why will you plead with Me? You all have transgressed against Me,” says the Lord. “In vain I have chastened your children; They received no correction. Your sword has devoured your prophets Like a destroying lion. “O generation, see the word of the Lord! Have I been a wilderness to Israel, Or a land of darkness? Why do My people say, ‘We are Lords; We will come no more to You’? Can a virgin forget her ornaments, Or a bride her attire? Yet My people have forgotten Me days without number.” (Jeremiah‬ ‭2‬:‭26‬-‭32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

(I advise you to read the whole chapter of Jeremiah 2)

  • There are a lot of people that start off in the wilderness with God and once they get blessed they forget about Him and turn to other idols. But in the times of chaos and calamity they want to run to God and want God to save them… it does not work like that. Why can’t what you put above God save you? If you make a bed you will have to lay in it and reap the consequences for your actions. Even if you repent God still has the right to correct you. How selfish are we to think that we can break His heart repeatedly and He has to extend grace and mercy to us. God does not owe us anything, He gives because it’s who He is not because of who we are or what we can do.
  • Also humble yourself before the Lord before He humbles you. Don’t try to play God when you are just a mere human. God does not need us to assist Him with anything in this world but rather wants us to. Jesus does not need us either, we need Him though. Therefore, let go of the pride because that is not if God.
    • “Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18 NKJV)
