When you see me what do you see? Do you see just a regular black girl or what I can be? If I told you my life story would you treat me differently. But see God doesn’t see color He sees just you and me. Would you think of me differently if I told you I speak Spanish? Would you say “oh she’s foreign” because of my race? Truth is Dominicans are black and we aren’t indifferent. The only difference is the boats our ancestors were divided in. But why talk about race if we are all one in Christ? Jesus was mispriced. And because of our sins he paid the price. The world turns a blind eye and uses our color so we die. It’s not fair but somehow people stare. It’s like we’re in the 19th century and like the TVs they only see black and white. What about our spirits? But no y’all don’t get the lyrics. Love me when I talk like you. Hate me cause I speak my truth. Praise me when I look like you. For I am fearfully and wonderfully made; (Psalms 139:14 NKJV) Look my ancestors were all slaves.
