“My friends, as believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, you must never treat people in different ways according to their outward appearance.” (James 2:1 GNT)
If God judged the world how people judge we would all probably be casted away. Human beings look at the outward appearance but Jesus looks at our heart. If you were to look at me you would think; “No way she follows Jesus. She is covered in tattoos and look at her past.” However, the greatest thing is that when we die our bodies perish and the only thing we can save is our souls. The outward appearance nor the possessions of this world don’t matter because we can’t take it with us when we leave this earth.
Someone wearing a suit could be a worse person than a poor person wearing rags. Think about all the rich people in the world. The rich have all that money can buy but inside they are dead. That’s why you see a lot of celebrities abusing drugs. Drugs are a gateway for a temporary fix nowadays. But for what if when the high comes down the pain comes back. Money, and possessions can solve physical things but it can’t save your soul. Nothing in this world means anything if you don’t have Jesus.
Moving forward, “Listen, my dear friends! God chose the poor people of this world to be rich in faith and to possess the kingdom which he promised to those who love him.” (James 2:5 GNT) The poor might not have money but they have something more valuable than jewels and pearls. They might not have much physically but spiritually they have something bigger than the world could ever offer: Jesus and their faith. This is greater than anything money can buy because when hard times come they can not be shaken.
Therefore, let’s keep our eyes fixed on Jesus at all times. When we walk with Christ we won’t have to worry about judging others based on the outward appearance. God gives us discernment so we’ll be able to know that which is of Him and that which is not. Let’s not judge one another based on the outward appearance because that person that looks like nothing can actually change your life. Imagine God judging us based on the sins we have committed. If that was the case nobody would make it to Heaven.
