“For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.” (Hebrews 12:6 NKJV) In the physical world when a parent disciplines their child it is because they love them and only want the best for them. I know when I correct my son it is because I don’t want any harm to come his way. I want to help him avoid making some mistakes that He doesn’t need to go through. At times, he gets mad and throws a tantrum but in the end he understands the lesson. In the same way God, our Father in Heaven will correct us when He sees us doing something wrong. He doesn’t want to hurt us. On the contrary, He wants to refine us like gold so we can shine to our fullest. It might not feel pleasing to us but it is a necessary process we have to go through. God is all knowing, meaning He knows the beginning and the end. Who better than Him to teach us? Us humans don’t know it all and we definitely need guidance. Therefore, rejoice when God takes out a bit of His time to discipline us because that means He cares and loves us.
