The spirit of offense can have you feeling any type of way over the littlest things. I remember taking to heart a lot of things that I should have just brushed off. We can misinterpret things because of the unresolved issues we have within ourselves. Other times we can really detect the nonsense in others. When we walk in Christ there will always be people that will try to offend us. However, not everything deserves our time or reaction. Sometimes the best reaction is no reaction. Silence doesn’t make you weak. In fact it takes a very strong person to be able to stay quiet and control their emotions.
Moving forward, it goes far beyond emotions. The spirit of offense is a major tactic the enemy uses against us to get us to self sabotage ourselves. He mainly uses this tactic to deviate us from our destiny and cause division. If we get offended by everything there is no way we can walk into blessings. Our hearts are not right and God is not able to trust us with many things. Offense can have us argue with each other. As a result this can cause division. The enemy loves this and prefers us to be alone. The enemy uses the same tactics over and over again. Yet, don’t fret the enemy has already been defeated.
It’s time for us to change our tactics and confuse the enemy. Awareness is the key. Once we are able to identify the problem we are able to work on a solution. Let’s change the way we react to certain things. Make it a goal to brush off what would normally irritate you. “Be alert, be on watch! Your enemy, the Devil, roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8 GNT) Yes, it hurts. Yes, you never expected it. Yes, it’s out of your comfort zone. However, remember that new levels bring new devils. We can’t fight the same way in every battle. God needs to prepare us in every season.
Jesus will sometimes take us into a dressing room. He will take off everything that is not needed and dress us with the new. His love, grace and mercy. The change we want to see must first begin in us. Offense can have us do things we will later regret. Now do you feel like you have a spirit of offense attached to you? If so the only way to get rid of it is by fasting and prayer. “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:21 NKJV) We are living in the devil’s world and they don’t want the oppressed free. For this reason you only find this verse in the KJV & NKJV. Fasting and prayer are the two major keys you need to fight your demons.
