The fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7 NKJV) I remember before I found Jesus I was a fool. Nobody nor anything in this world could put fear in my heart. I thought I knew it all but in reality I knew nothing. I used to hate being told what to do and I wouldn’t listen to anybody. However, it wasn’t until I found Jesus that things became clear to me. Now I only fear God and Jesus. I’ve had to come to the realization that I wasn’t living righteous at all. In fact, I was sinning and doing the exact things the Bible was against. Yet, when I started having reverence for The Lord that’s when wisdom and knowledge started to come my way. I have to ignore my fleshly desires and surrender to the spirit (the Holy Spirit).
We will always be in a constant battle with our flesh and spirit but the choice is always up to us. My choice is to live in righteousness and fear the Lord because I’ve experienced both life’s where I was a sinner and in Jesus Christ. I’ve gained nothing but pain and misery when I was off the world. Furthermore, now that I understand I am not of the world but I was chosen (John 15:19), I can’t do whatever I want to do. Yes, trials and tribulations and pain will come our way when we live in righteousness and in Jesus Christ. However, it’s how we deal with what comes our way that makes the difference in this walk. We can trust that in the end everything is working for our good. (Romans 8:28) Jesus is always here with us and there is a lesson in everything.
