I’ve been gone for a while but God has been moving a lot in my life lately. Let me tell you about the miracle God did in my life in December of last year. Last year I was pregnant with my second child. I prayed to God that my labor would be fast and painless. Of course labor cannot possibly be painless but it can definitely go by fast. Don’t ever think God doesn’t hear your prayers because He definitely does. Also, God won’t always answer our prayers in the way we would expect. When I was pregnant I thought the baby would come 2 weeks early like my son did but that did not happen. Moving forward, as I reached the end of my pregnancy I was ready for the baby to come. My baby’s due date was on December 15th and by December 14th I lost all hope and decided that the baby would arrive later than the due date.
However, the funny thing about God is that He makes things happen when you least expect it. The morning of December 14 I got my cervix checked and by the end of the day I had my baby. This was not an ordinary birth though because I had to deliver my baby by myself in the shower. I was so anxious for the baby’s arrival that when she finally came I was in denial. but I thought it was because of the cervix check I had earlier that day. Before all this I had read posts online about pregnant mothers having contractions and going into false labor after a cervix check and I thought that was happening to me. But boy was I wrong and God had other plans or me. Around 7:30pm on December 14 I started having contractions and just brushed it off. However, around 9pm the contractions were getting stronger and by 10pm I was in the shower pleading to God to take the pain away.
My husband had gone to work that night and I was all alone and my toddler was upstairs. Around 10:50pm I was calling the midwife to see if I should come in but the automated system popped up and the pain was so excruciating that I just hung up and got back in the shower. While in the shower I felt this sensation and little did I know that was my cue to push the baby out. I didn’t know what to do but I listened to the small still voice ( The Holy Spirit) that told me “maybe you have to push.” Therefore, I layed in the tub and pushed and to my surprise I felt the baby’s head. This is the moment when I realized I had to deliver my own baby. After 3 pushes the baby was out and was born at 11pm. The baby had the umbilical cord wrapped around the neck and I immediately removed it and held the baby to my chest. The baby was a little blue but after a minute or so the baby started to cry and I called 911 afterwards.
A few minutes later my husband arrived and then the paramedics. If I hadn’t listened to God I don’t know what would have happened to my baby. Yet, this experience made me see how strong I actually am and how much God actually can trust me with. I prayed for a fast labor and that is exactly what He gave me. I was only in labor for 3 and ½ hours and had to deliver my own baby. This is far from what I imagined would happen but I’m grateful for the experience and honored God would trust me with so much. My prayers led to my miracle baby. I’m here to let you know to never stop praying because that produces the unimaginable. We need to take God out of the box we put Him in because we serve a God “who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” (Ephesians 3:20 NKJV)
