Be Still

Be still and wait on God. How many times have you not heard this before? This is something you have to discipline yourself to do and it doesn’t come easy. I can definitely relate because I come from a place where I always had to do everything. Now with Jesus we don’t have to do anything. It’s crazy isn’t it? It may feel so out of your comfort zone or worse you don’t even know how to “be still and wait on God”. This is what we call surrendering it all to our Lord and savior. Trusting that no matter the uncertainty or the doubts, fears, etc we serve a God who will come through in the end. Yahweh the great “I Am”, El-Shaddai (God Almighty), Jehovah Jireh (God will provide), Jehovah Rapha (The God that heals), Jehovah Nissi (The Lord is my banner), our God who is 3 in 1. This is the God who we serve and His son Jesus Christ who knew no sin but died on the cross for our sins. God gave up His one and only son for us… doesn’t that show us how much He loves us? Think of all the times God has already come through for you. Why would He let us down now? Therefore, be still and wait on our God because His timing is what matters. We mess up all the time and the God we serve doesn’t need white out. If we wait on Him we will get it right the first time.

Trust me, at times I have a really hard time surrendering things to God and waiting on Him because I just don’t know how to do it. If you’ve struggled like me, say this prayer:

“Lord, I surrender it all to you, I may not know how to do this yet but I trust you. Show me how to be still and wait on you. It is your timing and not mine. Let your will be done in my life and order my steps.”

Here are some Scriptures to meditate on:

  • “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)
  • “Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.” (‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)
  • “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” (‭‭James‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭NKJV‬)
  • “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.” (‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)
  • “My son, give me your heart, And let your eyes observe my ways.” ‭‭(Proverbs‬ ‭23:26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)
